Default New town ownership system.

Many people have been unhappy with the current system for owning towns/outposts. I don't hate the current one, I just think it can be better. Thus, here is my concept for a new one.

The new system would not involve faction at all. That would be left solely for the buying of pve skills and/or stuff. Instead, you would have a pve duel for control of each one.

Allow me to elaborate. Each hour ( or whatever interval is needed to get enough teams together) teams of 8 players, the majority of which should be from the same alliance, would come together to fight for a selected outpost. A tournament involving all the teams who elected to fight at that particular town would take place there. However, a team just starting off could not select just any outpost. The towns would be assigned levels 1-3 which would determine who could fight there; 1 being those outposts furthest from cavalon or house zu helzer and 3 being the main cities themselves. THose groups that were just starting off would have to select a level 1 outpost. THe victor of the tournament would win control of that town until the next tournament. As a reward, they would each recieve a large sum of gold, as well as the other rewards already in place. They can elect either to stay at the outpost or move on to compete a tournament at a higher level outpost. The advantage of staying would be that you wouldn't have to beat every team in your tournament, just the winner of it. However, if you move on, you compete in another tournament for a selected higher level outpost. The competition would be greater, but so would the awards. Upon gaining control of one of the main cities, your alliance would be granted access to the elite missions during your reign as well as the regular awards. An alliance ladder could also be created.

Now, here's the format of the PvE battles:

Each outpost would have different types of battles, but here are some ideas that i came up with:

1. A duel where the outpost fills with monsters of which your team must attempt to kill as many as possible within the alloted time, just like with masters missions. The catch is that you would be competing against another team who is simultaniously trying to kill them in the same area, although they are in a different "district" so to speak and could not interfere with each other. A bar would show each opposing teams' progress during the match.

2.Again, the outpost fills with monsters. However, this time each team is in the same "district" and on opposite sides of the outpost. They must carry relics to the center of the outpost, killing monsters that pop up blocking your path going back and forth to collect them. They would have plenty of traps and shatter enchantments to prevent running.

These battles would have no effect on those who are in the outpost but not participating in the battles.

Thoughts?

Wouldn't that defeat the entire purpose of luxon/kurzick faction in a game called FACTIONS?

While I have no issue with your thoughts, I highly doubt they plan on removing the entire basis of their second game.

How about reducing the Faction needed. But still requiring it?
